THE U.S. EPA APPROVES 91 NEW AGROCHEM AND ORGANIC PRODUCTS

In less than two months the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted license to 91 new plant protection products.

Some of them containing controversial active ingredients like Chlorpyrifos, Imazalil, Thiamethoxam, etc. Others containing substances allowed for organic agriculture under some standards  (Spinosad, copper sulfate pentahydarate, Pseudomonas fluorescens ACK55, etc).

These changes have already been added to Homologa™ database.

AgGateway awards Homologa director, Patricia PĂ©rez

Last month AgGateway "honored exemplary individuals who have made outstanding contributions in advancing the industry’s transition to digital agriculture"

THE U.S. UPDATES INFORMATION FOR MORE THAN 150 PPP

On October 2020, US-EPA published the registration information for more than 150 PPP (Plant Protection Products).

 This major update includes some brand new products like Syngenta´s Miravis (pydiflumetofen/adepidyn)  or Sumitomo´s Indiflin brands containing inpyrfluxam. It also includes modification of previously registered products. These modifications refer to adding new uses, expiring old uses, changes in dates of expiry, etc.

 All these changes can be tracked using Homologa™ database “histo” tools.

Japan registers 76 new PPP

Japan has registered 76 new PPP (plant protection products), two of them have Brofalanilide as main compound. This insecticide has been registered for the first time in Japan.

Brofalanilide and Fluxametamide are the only actives under IRAC group 30  whose mode of action (MoA) relies on insect neurotransmitter inhibition.

These new products have already been added to Homologa™ database.

The U.S. updates information for more than 200 PPP

On September 2020, US-EPA updated the registration information for more than 200 PPP (Plant Protection Products).

 

This major update includes some brand new products like BASF´s Avelyo Fungicide (Mefentrifluconazole)  or Bayer´s USF 0411 containing Fluopyram. It also includes modification of previously registered products. These modifications refer to adding new uses, expiring old uses, changes in dates of expiry, etc.

 

All these changes can be tracked using Homologa™ database “histo” tools.

Slovakia registrations data revised

Slovakia is now available in Homologa Registrations modules with more details than before. GAP information is more detailed (stages, methods, intervals in between treatments, maximum number of treatments), minor uses and Hazard and Precautionary statements have been added also.

Sri Lanka is now available in Homologa Registration modules

Sri Lanka is now available in Homologa Registrations modules. The source of data was provided by the Office of the Registrar of Pesticides, Department of Agriculture. This document was published (as a draft) in 2019 and it includes a full list of Active Ingredients (AI) allowed for use in the country and both brands available in the country containing that AI, and usages.  

Ireland removes epoxiconazole products from PPP database

Ireland has removed from its PPP database (plant protection product) all the products with epoxiconazole.

As consequence the following products will be shown as "expired" in Homologa™ database

Cauldron, Opus, Ceriax, Ceando, Gleam, Icarus, Osiris P, Opus Max, Rubric, Venture Extra, Splice, Inca, Adexar, Pexan, Deuce, Keystone, Seguris, Micaraz, Opera, Corrib, Farmco Epoxy, Spike and Tiro.

This broad-spectrum fungicide has controlled rust diseases in cereals and sugarbeet for over 20 years. However, EU has withdrawn approval of epoxiconazole due to the fact that it has been classified as an endocrin disruptor.

 

The U.S. EPA approves 54 new agrochem. and organic products

In June, 2020 US agency EPA has approved the following 54 new products. Most of them are plant protection products (PPP).

Japan registers 10 PPP (plant protection products)

On May 2020 Japan registered ten new plant protection products containing the following active ingredients:

Japan registers 13 new PPP (plant protection products)

On April, 2020 Japan registered 13 new PPP (plant protection products). Three of them are based on the active substance florpyrauxifen-benzyl that has been registered for the first time by FAMIC Japanese "Food and Agricultural Materials Inspection Center"

Poland extends temporary permit for Cruiser in OSR

On May 11, Poland extended the temporary permit for Cruiser OSR 322 FS (Thiamethoxam) in oil seed rape (OSR). This permission will last until 28 September 2020.

Thiamethoxam based PPP (plant protection products) standard registrations have been banned in the EU since 30 April 2019

Belgium implements new GAP for Tau-fluvalinate PPP

On May 7, Belgium set new GAP (good agricultural practices) for Tau-fluvalinate PPPs (Plant protection products).

Following EU MRL revision and SANTE proposal for reducing the MRL for Tau-fluvalinate, Belgium sets  interval applications in some cereals and also sets a 14-day PHI (pre-harvest-interval) for potatoes. The products involved are:

  • EVURE (10728P / B)
  • MAVRIK (7535P / B)

GERMANY EXTENDS FLONICAMID USES AS NEONICOTINOID ALTERNATIVE

On May, 6 2020 Germany extended uses of the flonicamid based insecticide: Teppeki. 

This Plant Protection Product (PPP) used to be allowed on winter wheat against aphids. After this extension Teppeki is also registered for use in barley, oats, rye and triticale against aphids and also in winter barley against aphid vectors. 

The extensions to the approval allow alternative to pesticides containing the neonicotinoid active ingredients like clothianidin, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam which are banned to be used outdoors.

Germany cancels thiacloprid plant protection products (PPP)

Germany will revoke Biscaya plant protection product (PPP) on August 3, 2020

The cancellation also applies to the associated plant protection products of parallel trade. Both Biscaya and the parallel products could be used until February 3, 2021.

These periods result from the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/23 which rules the non-renewal of the approval of the active substance thiacloprid.

Germany withdraws approvals for Epoxiconazole

Today Germany has published that the approval of the plant protection products with the active ingredient epoxiconazole will be revoked on April 30th, 2020.

9 plant protection products(PPP) are affected:
